The most valuable asset of any business is its people. Our team comprises professional, dedicated engineers and managers with a huge breadth and depth of experience.

We are always eager to hear from people who can help strengthen and expand our team. We are particularly interested in applicants who are available to work on an ad hoc basis and/or during the summer months, as well as those who hold a category B+E (trailer towing) entitlement on their driving licence.

Managing Director Nick joined Show Hire in 1992 as Communication Engineer and became a Partner in 1998, taking over a large customer base as well as introducing and developing new clients all over the UK and Europe. In 2002, Nick took over as Owner and Managing Director, a role that he finds incredibly rewarding and challenging. He's been with Show Hire for over 24 of its 39 years and has a wealth of experience in the outdoor events industry at all levels.

Nick Chubb

Operations Manager Ross started his early career at show hire in 2010, this is where his love for events first started. Alongside this grew his technical skills and large scale operational capabilities. During his career he took a sidestep to grow his experience working for a large scale events branding company, expanding on his knowledge and contacts in the event world. Supporting in events in the Mass Participation sector As well as being involved in large scale international projects. Ross returned back to showhire in 2023 to take on the role of Operational Manager where he is in charge of the day to day running and growth of the company. Ross Slaughter

Events Manager Before setting his sights on the events world, Alistair worked around the globe managing restaurants, leading guided tours across Africa, and running his own landscape business. Since joining Show Hire, he has worked on some of the largest events in the UK and Europe, and his vast experience in management and customer care and has proved to be an invaluable asset to our team and our clients.

Alistair Marriott

Finance Manager Kate joined Show Hire in 2014, and keeps the books in order and the home fires burning. As a Chartered Accountant with many years' of experience, Kate has helped and worked for a wide portfolio of businesses. Outside Show Hire, she is also Treasurer of Haslemere Musical Society, as well as Head of Operations for a busy family of badly brought-up children. Email Kate 01483 414337

Kate McWhirter

Communications Engineer

Peter founded Show Hire, being involved in the design and implementation of communication systems for 40 years. Working for many big names in the industry, he runs an electrical engineering business specialising in high-end lighting, power and communications installations. Peter brings his wealth of experience to the team with the design and implementation of our more complex projects and oversight of the company’s technical strategy.

Peter Knifton

Long-term contractor

Rupert is Show Hire's longest-standing contractor, having been with the company for more than 20 years.

He has been instrumental in developing some of our best client relationships, and plays a key role in running our biggest equine events.

As well as his work for Show Hire, Rupert runs his own horse trials, farm, and livery stables.

Seasonal Staff

Show Hire has a diverse team of more than ten contractors who all work for us regularly. Many of them have previously worked full time for the company or have worked in similar companies in the industry.

Each has a wealth of experience in the events industry, as well as in the installation and servicing of public address and communication systems.
